Tesla shows how it builds ventilators using Model 3 parts

Tesla’s EV plants are shuttered due to the coronavirus, but like other automakers, it’s retooling its operations to build ventilators. Now, the company has released a YouTube video showing a prototype built with EV parts including the Model 3’s display and infotainment system.

Hospital-grade oxygen goes into Tesla’s mixing chamber (a car part used in Tesla’s vehicles). It’s subsequently pumped through Tesla’s custom designed manifold, which is powered by vehicle computers and controlled by the infotainment system. All the patient parameters are then displayed on the Model 3’s main display.

First Medtronic units from Tesla getting installed in NY metro area. These are for worst case situations.

Tesla, along with Ford and GM, have promised to donate or build ventilators, and CEO Elon Musk said recently that the New York factory could reopen soon to produce ventilators. The company recently donated 1,000 ventilators, though critics said that the non-invasive models were the wrong kind. That’s because critical COVID-19 patients need invasive ventilators that can inflate a patient’s lungs with air via intubation.

However, New York governor Andrew Cuomo said that the so-called BiPAP non-invasive ventilators could be converted into the right type to help offset the “burn rate” of critical invasive ventilators. Elon Musk subsequently tweeted that “all hospitals were given exact specifications of [the donated models] & all confirmed they would be critical.” He added that Tesla has now started delivering critical intratracheal ventilators from Medtronic for “worst case situations.” Sourced Link

Wavecom WMOi3 - GSM modem Circuit Diagram

This is a simple Wavecom WMOi3 - GSM modem Circuit Diagram. Modems are devices that connect either remote devices to a computer, or two or more computers to each other. Their connection is usually wired. The GSM modem we present is wireless. It can connect two computers, a computer with the internet or even be the central unit for a data acquisition system. Generally the construction is a GSM phone without keys and display. Its operation is easily accomplished by its serial door with AT commands.

The serial port connects a personal computer, a laptop or a microcomputer. The modem and computer set creates a unit on a network. This system can be portable and at the same time have access to other computers or terminal devices. Suppose that this system is responsible for collecting meteorological data, whenever there are some reasons, the computer will pick up a phone from the cell phone and send the data to any internet address or simply to a printer in your office a lot Kilometers away. Modern GSM is another device that allows you to expand your network or start a new application that you would hardly start with.

Wavecom WMOi3 - GSM modem Circuit Diagram

The circuit of construction is relatively simple. The whole construction is a closed module of the wavecom model WMOi3 integrated modem. It works on two bands E-GSM 900 and 1800MHz and obeys Class 4 (2W 900MHz) and Class 1 (1W 1800 / 1900MHz). Outside, it has a Plug for connecting the antenna and a double bar where all the connections will be made. String matches are the necessary data to connect to a computer. The module to work needs a 5V and 1A power supply.

The average consumption is 300mA in GSM 900 and 2W. In standby, it consumes only 9mA. Output and input RS232 lines have reasonable levels of 3.3v. These levels can get the voltage levels that the R5232 wants with the integrated MAX3238 if we are going to connect the construction to a personal computer. But if we combine the modem with an external microcontroller circuit, the microcontroller should work at 3.3v for compatibility reasons.

Construction

Implementing the modem is a relatively simple matter. The necessary board is in the shape. On this board we will make the bridges shown in the following figure. Here we must be careful not to overdo it. Welds should be small and not too high. At the same time, there should be no short circuits due to welding or other cause. The difficulty in construction is in the gluing of the double string to support the module.

Wavecom WMOi3 - GSM modem Circuit Diagram

The contacts of the strings have a shorter distance than the terminals of an integrated one, ie 2.54mm. Additionally, the strings are located on the printed side. The module is finally placed on the same side as copper. Between the module and the board an insulating surface of some plastic must be inserted.

This placement results in difficulty in controlling the circuit. Before putting the circuit in operation, carefully examine the whole block for any short circuits. When you make sure it does not, then check again and again the plaque again, once again. The modem board connects directly to the MAX3238 board. Each row is connected to the one opposite one.

Semi-Automatic Paintbrush

Got a replacement InkShield and progressing to build an Open hardware project? Then why not strive creating the Semi-Automatic Paintbrush. browse on to grasp a lot of concerning this.

Any work of art are often copied using this and therefore the elements that are needed to form this is often listed below:
IR camera
InkShield
Ink cartridge
IR LED.

The software that's run on a desktop for this purpose is understood as paintbrush.py. The software plays the role of mapping the camera focus with the co-ordinate system of the canvas. Four LEDs are placed at every corner of the canvas and therefore the mapping is calibrated by hitting a key when needed.

The region of the image is captured by tracking the motion of the LEDs. the mandatory commands are send to an Arduino with the InkShield by means that of a script written for this purpose. The script tells the arduino that nozzle to fireplace and additionally the grey level that must be achieved by the firing nozzle. so as to avoid flooding, the painted areas are tracked.

Thats all it's. The paintbrush is complete. this is often a lot of of a fun-based project and may be tired some spare time using the elements mentioned earlier. the desired script is out there on github. The InkShield library employed by the

Analogue Electronic Key Circuit Diagram

This circuit uses two comparator that are combined in what is called a window comparator, i.e. resistors R2, R5, and R10 determine a voltage window within which the voltage applied to the junction of D2 and D6 must lie in order for the outputs of IC2.A and IC2.B to both be high at the same time. Given the value used for these resistors, this window is from 10/21 to 11/21 of the comparator supply rail (5 V). If IC2.A and IC2.B outputs are both high at the same time, transistor T1 is saturated via the AND gate formed by D3 and D4, and relay RE1 is energized to operate the electric latch or any other locking device.

Analogue Electronic Key Circuit Diagram

The key is defined by the generation of the specif ic voltage at the junction of D2 and D6, formed, for example, by a simple stereo jack containing the two resistors R4 and R8. Together with R1 and R9, they form a potential divider that needs to be suitably calculated in conjunction with the values of R2, R5, and R10 so that the key can open the lock. Clearly, all this will only work correctly is the supply voltage to these two dividers is stable, which is ensured by IC1, regulating it to 5 V.If we had set the values for R1 and R9, all the readers of this edition of Elektor would have had the same key, which is clearly not a good idea! So you need to decide for yourself not only R4 and R8, which form the key, but also R1 and R9 which let you customize the ‘lock’.1 Here are the relationships between the values of resistors R1, R4, R8, and R9 for the key to be able to open the lock:

10 · R8 · R9 < 11 · (R1 + R4) · (R8 + R9) 10 · (R1 + R4) · (R8 + R9) < 11 · R8 · R9

Given the size of the window for me d by R2, R5, and R10, 5 % tolerance resistors are adequate.

Note too that, as the relationships consist of inequalities, and that there are only two (un)equations for four unknowns, this leaves quite a wide choice for the resistor values. We advise you to set at least two of them to preferred values, which will then let you work out the others. If, as is more than likely, this does not result in other preferred values, you’ll then need to use series/parallel combinations to obtain the calculated values or else choose different starting values in order to arrive at a better compromise.

Manual Eprom Programmer Circuit Diagram

The programmer devices required for programming the electrically programmable read only memories (EPROMs) are generally expensive. Here is a low-cost circuit to program binary data into 2716 and 2732 EPROMs.

Manual Eprom Programmer Circuit Diagram

Manual Eprom Programmer Circuit Diagram

The circuit uses timer NE555 (IC2) wired as a monostable. When push-to-on switch S1 is pressed, IC2 generates a 50ms pulse, which is given to the program pin 18 of the ZIF SOCKET through switch S2. EPROM is inserted into the ZIF SOCKET for programming. LED1 glows to indicate the application of the programming pulse to the EPROM. Before applying the programming pulse to the EPROM, select the programming voltage (25V, 21V or 12.5V, as specified by the manufacturer) applied to pin 21 of the ZIF SOCKET by using jumper J1. The programming voltage required for an EPROM is sometimes written on its body. The address and data for the EPROM (ZIF SOCKET) are set by using DIP switches SW1 and SW2, respectively, whose pins are initially pulled high via 10-kilo-ohm resistors.

The AC mains is stepped down by transformer X1 to deliver 30V, 250 mA from the secondary. The secondary output is rectified by diode D1 and filtered by capacitor C1. The programming voltages of 25V, 21V and 12.5V are generated with the help of zener diodes ZD1, ZD2 and ZD3. IC1 is used to provide +5V regulated supply to the circuit.

To begin with, first read the programming voltage written on the EPROM. Now insert the EPROM chip into the 24-pin ZIF socket and slide switch S2 as per EPROM. Then connect the power supply to provide regulated 5V DC to the circuit. Select the programming voltage using jumper J1 and set the programming address and data value using switches SW1 and SW2, respectively. After providing the required programming voltage, press switch S1 to program the data at the desired address. Repeat this procedure for the next address and corresponding data.

DIGITAL AUDIO/ VIDEO INPUT SELECTOR

Need to connect more than one audio-video (AV) source to your colour television? Don’t worry, here’s an AV input expander for your TV. It is inexpensive and easy to construct.

The working of the circuit is simple and straightforward. Whenever 12V DC is applied to the circuit, power-on LED1 glows. Now reset the decade counter by momentarily pressing switch S2 to make Q0 output of IC1 high. LED2 glows to indicate that the circuit is ready to work.Switch S1 is used for selecting a particular audio-video (AV) signal. To select the first AV signal, press switch S1 once. To select the second AV signal, press switch S1 twice. In the same way, you can select the other two signals.

DIGITAL AUDIO/ VIDEO INPUT SELECTOR CIRCUIT DIAGRAM

Momentarily pressing of switch S1 once results in clocking of the decade counter and relay driver transistor T1 conducts to energise relay RL1. Now normally opened (N/O) contacts of two-changeover relay RL1 connect the television set’s inputs to the first AV signal (marked as Video-In 1 and Audio-in 1). LED3 glows to indicate this.

When you press switch S1 twice, the Q2 output of IC1 goes high. Consequently, 2C/O relay RL2 (not shown in the circuit) energises and television inputs are connected to the second AV signal (not shown in the figure). LED4 (not shown in figure) glows to indicate this.

Similarly, pressing switch S1 thrice makes the Q3 output of IC1 high. Consequently, 2C/O relay RL3 (not shown in the figure) energises and the television inputs are connected to the third AV signal source. LED5 (not shown in the figure) glows to indicate this. Again, pressing switch S1 four times makes the Q4 output of IC1 high. Consequently, 2C/O relay RL4 energises and the TV inputs are connected to the fourth AV signal source (marked as Video-in 4 and Audio-in 4). LED6 glows to indicate this.

Further pressing of switch S1 resets the decade counter and LED2 glows again. Thereafter, the cycle repeats. The circuit is wired for four-input selection, therefore the Q5 output of IC1 is connected to reset pin 15 of IC1.

Enclose the assembled PCB along with the relays in a cabinet with the input/output sockets and indicators mounted on the body of the cabinet.
